SATA Flights to the AzoresTwo airlines in one - SATA International which operates the international jet flights between the Azores and 14 international cities in Europe and North America, and SATA Air Azores flying turbo prop aircraft between the islands of the Azores. Owned by the provincial Government and with a proud history of conservation growth, SATA is a safe, efficient and politely dynamic European success story, with lots of warmth and charm on their flights to the Azores Islands. SATA operate twice a week from London Gatwick and Manchester during the summer months and on a weekly basis in the winter using modern A320 aircraft combining a service for adventurous holiday makers (whale watching tours are particularly popular); yachtsmen (leaving or returning to their boats) and businessmen. The inter-island services include the island airports of Corvo, Flores, Funchal, Gracia, Horta,Pico, Santa Maria, San Horta and Terceira. The main International airport, with a runway long enough to accommodate the space shuttle is at the capital of the islands, Ponta Delgada.
